| Weekly Tip: Prioritizing Your Work with the Today View (part 1)

|
Are you trying to stay focused on what's important to get done rather than just what's latest and loudest? The eProductivity Today View can assist you.
In a nutshell, here's how it works: First, figure out what projects and actions you want to make progress on today. For these items, "flag" them to make them appear on your Today View (Certain items also appear automatically). The Today View then becomes a flexible to-do list that helps you prioritize where to spend your time and energy.
We're launching a mini-series on how to become more proficient with the Today View. Read on for part 1.

Flagging items to make them appear on the Today View
You have a lot of control over what appears on the Today View. We'll get into the more advanced features and concepts later. For now, let's talk about "flagging" items.
There are two ways to flag projects and actions to get them onto the Today View...
When you flag a project or action, it doesn't disappear from it's normal list (e.g. At Office, At Home). It just now appears on the Today View as well.
Let's say we've flagged our "ICA - Review employee vacation requests" action by dragging-and-dropping it on the Today View. Now let's go look at the Today View.

Working from the Today View
In the screenshot above, we have a number of items appearing in our Today View. Let's say these items represent the things we've decided are a priority to work on today.
With these items, our Today View now functions as a to-do list or daily dashboard. We can focus on working off this list and get done what we've decided is important. This is a great cure for the tyranny of the urgent!
As we finish up tasks, we'll mark them complete as shown below. This clears the item off the Today View and give us the often-euphoric feeling of "completion".
